Gleeson commits to MK Dons

Midfielder Stephen Gleeson has handed MK Dons a huge boost by signing a new contract.

23-year-old Gleeson, who was about to become a free agent, was one that many might have feared would leave but the Republic of Ireland international has committed to the club for the next two-years.

Failure to achieve promotion, again, has hurt Gleeson but he, as he told the official website, is driven by this more to make sure it happens next time around and wants the step-up to a higher level to come with MK: 'before the play-offs I knew I wanted to stay. I do want to play at a higher level, but I want to do it with this team.

'I have been here for three years now, I have made a lot of friends and I am settled in the area. I want to get into the Championship with this team and with the manager.

'The last two years have really hurt so I want to put it right. It is driving me on to stay clear of the play-offs and hopefully go up automatically.'
