Gleeson appeal

One of the drawbacks to MK Dons' Capital One Cup win over Cheltenham was the sending off of Stephen Gleeson.

The injury to Shaun Williams was another blow...

Karl Robinson wasn't at all happy with the red card shown to Gleeson: 'we all know it was a very, very good tackle.

'He did not have his body off the floor and he did not have his studs showing. The disappointing thing for me is that the same player who was lying on the floor is running around within 30 seconds and 10 minutes before that he got booked for diving.'

Robinson will almost certainly appeal that sending off and knows the referee expects him to also: 'it was a difficult one for me to accept - I didn't even think it was a free-kick. The referee was very respectful and he appreciates that I will try and appeal that one.'

If Robinson genuinely believes he has a chance of successfully appealing the Gleeson sending off he is right to do so, and if successful it would be a boost as missing both the Irish international and Williams would be a big loss...
