Crewe 2-1 MK Dons
19th March 2013
19:45
Alexandra Stadium
MK Dons' slim chances of forcing a late play off spot virtually ended when they were beaten at Crewe on Tuesday night.
A goal created by former Crewe striker Ryan Lowe saw Patrick Bamford (31) head home to give MK Dons the lead just after the half hour mark.
It could, and probably should, have been two-nil soon after with Dean Bowditch denied by a save, Darren Potter's follow up come back off Mark Ellis with Lowe then guilty of blazing the next follow up over the bar.
This proved crucial for the visitors with Mathias Pogba (40) heading home just before the break to level for Crewe.
MK Dons were almost ahead in the second half again when Chris Lines hit the post and Bowditch's follow up coming back off the woodwork, however he was offside anyway. 10-minutes from time the bar denied MK Dons again with Shaun Williams' freekick coming back off the woodwork.
Pogba (84) struck again late on, following up his initially saved effort, to see Crewe take the lead with MK Dons finishing with 10-men when Anthony Kay got sent off for collecting his second booking, as Crewe recorded a 2-1 win.
