Defender Released

Mathias Doumbe has been released by MK Dons at the end of his contract.

The 33-year-old was informed of Karl Robinson's decision not to renew his contract this week, so ends a four-year spell with the club.

Robinson, as he told the official website, has praised the defender for his time with the club with new fair play regulations had a part to play in the decision. He said: 'Mathias has been an excellent servant to this football club and has proven to be a tremendous professional.

'He is a strong character who has played a large part in our recent history and it was a hard decision to release him this year.

'However, with the Financial Fair Play regulations becoming even stricter this season we have to be prudent with our recruitment policy and along the way we will have to make tough decisions.'
