'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Important We Learn Our Lessons

MK Dons went into the weekend game with Rotherham off the back of several straight defeats, so stopping that run was the main objective first and foremost.

At the midway point of the second half, with us two-nil up we looked well and truly on course for this but a couple of minutes of madness looked to have cost us a win with a draw then looking the most likely outcome against a 10-man Millers side...

That was until Bamford popped up to score another goal for us and secure us a 3-2 win.

Karl Robinson knows that we have such a young side, but it is such a talent field group. However, quality isn't always enough but as young players you make mistakes and he's aware of this.

Learning from these mistakes, that almost cost us, is what we must do as he told BBC Three Counties Radio: 'Ten out of our 18 players are all 23 years of age or under and have so much class and quality. But they've got to learn the other side of the game and that will make them better players.

'There were mistakes today and it's not cost us, but it could, so it's important we learn our lessons.'

Bamford's late strike, his 12th since returning on loan from Chelsea, showed just why Robbo was so keen to secure him on loan again!

He added: 'Patrick Bamford's path at Chelsea is nothing to do with us. All we can do whilst he's here is make him a better footballer and I think he's doing that.

'Me and him have had a little joke about the target for him. Some people raised a few eyebrows about why we brought him back in the summer and why we were so excited; that's why. And what a good lovely, grounded kid he is too.'

We'll be hoping that Bamford can score more, and MK can secure another win, when we return to action in midweek!
