Waddock Becomes Oxford Boss

It was confirmed that Milton Keynes Dons coach Gary Waddock was moving on to become the new boss of Oxford United on Saturday.

Coaching turnabouts are something of a regular thing with MK Dons with Waddock deciding that he couldn't refuse the opportunity of a return to management in his own right and leaves his head of coaching position, held since last summer, to become the new Oxford boss.

Leaving the club was a difficult decision but it wasn't one he felt he could refuse.

Waddock told the official MK Dons website: 'I've loved my time at MK Dons. I would like to thank the Chairman, Karl, the staff, players and fans for making it such an enjoyable nine months. I wish everyone all the best for the remainder of this season and the campaigns to come.

'The opportunity to get back into management, especially at a big club like Oxford United, was too good to turn down and although I'm disappointed to be leaving the Dons, I'm excited by the new challenge.'

The first game that Waddock will have as boss of Oxford will be the league two meeting with Southend United on Monday night at Roots Hall.
