Round Two Awaits: MK Dons 3-1 AFC Wimbledon
The second round of the league cup is waiting for Milton Keynes Dons after Tuesday's first round win.
11-years ago the old Wimbledon moved to Milton Keynes, from this move MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon as they now are were born, following this meeting on Tuesday it's MK Dons that went through after a 3-1 win at the stadium:mk.
The emotions weren't as strong as they were during the first meeting, there were still a couple of incidents but nothing major with these soon stamped out.
AFC Wimbledon started the game well and should have taken the lead when Matt Tubbs saw his shot saved but the follow up from Sean Rigg lacked power, with MK Dons instantly capitalising on this.
Kyle McFadzean (19), having scored on his debut too, made it two from two as he tucked away Danny Green's corner, with that goal enough to send the club in one-nil up at the break.
James Shea was left wrong-footed in the AFC Wimbledon goal early in the second half as Daniel Powell (49) made it two-nil with a defensive mix-up between Alan Bennett and Mark Phillips allowing Benik Afobe (76) to wrap up the game.
MK Dons could have added a fourth but Bennett cleared off the goal line to deny Tom Hitchcock before McFadzean fouled Tubbs in the penalty area in injury-time. Tubbs himself stepped up and made no mistake with the game ending three-one.
