MK Dons were looking for their first away points of the season as they travelled to Chesterfield's Proact Stadium, and managed to pick up all three in a tight encounter.

An exciting first half saw a change in style for Robinson's side, a long ball to Arsenal loanee Benik Afobe the main focus with the Dons missing key attacker Danny Green through a hamstring injury.

Among many chances at either end of the pitch Ben Reeves sliced an early Dons chance wide while Sam Hird headed wastefully wide for the hosts before the break.

Come half-time the Dons were forced into their first change, Ian McLoughlin replacing the impressive David Martin in the Dons goal following an earlier challenge from Roberts.

The previously ineffective Afobe looked revitalised in the second half when he picked the ball up, drove at the Spireites' defence and fired an unstoppable effort past Lee from the edge of the area (49), an example of what he is truly capable of with his second goal for the Dons.

But not everything was plain sailing for MK as they were dealt a further injury blow shortly afterwards when Hodson had to be stretchered off, with George Baldock replacing him at right-back - the injury list already starting to build so early in the season.

As the clock ticked towards the hour mark, referee Drysdale waved away what seemed to be strong penalty appeals when Powell appeared to be brought down by Lee inside the area.

Afobe continued to look dangerous and missed two great chances to seal victory -misjudging a great pass from Reeves and deflected shot fired straight into the arms of the home goalkeeper.

Chesterfield pressed for the leveller, with Ian Evatt heading over in injury time, but the Dons defence held strong to gain its first clean sheet of the season, helped by the ever-improving centre-back duo of McFadzean and Kay.

Overall a well-deserved result for the Dons against a dangerous Chesterfield side, lifting them to 4th in the early unformed league table - a position they'll be vying to maintain or even surpass following a generally strong set of opening games.
